ADOPTION
Potential guardians/owners must show that they will properly care for the adopted animal for their lifetime. Anyone interested in adopting from the SPCA must first meet the animal they are interested in adopting and complete an adoption application questionnaire which will then be reviewed by SPCA staff. When you decide that you are ready to adopt an animal, please visit our shelter and spend some time getting to know that special dog or cat. This will help make to ensure it is the best fit for you and your home. Consider the personality of the animal (and yours) as well as the other members of you family. Get to know what the pet’s needs are and will you be able to make him or her happy, healthy and safe.
Before you consider adopting we ask that your pets are neutered or spayed and are up-to-date on their vaccines. If you already have a dog and you want to add another to your family, we will require that the two dogs meet to assess their compatibility. So that there are no setbacks, please be sure to have your landlord's permission to have a dog, cat or any other companion animal.
Lastly, you will need to complete and adoption application before an adoption can be approved (or not). This application review and discussion with an SPCA staff member will provide an opportunity for you and the staff to ask and answer questions about the pet you are considering and the adoption process.
