We love visitors. As you can imagine, a lot goes on in an animal shelter. You are welcome during our public hours, but we encourage calling and making an appointment first to meet a particular cat or dog.  For the health of our dogs, we arrange meet and greets in a yard with approved adopters only.  We cannot allow visitors to “tour” the dog kennels as the dogs were showing signs of stress. 

Phone lines are regularly answered from 8:45 a.m. to 4:45 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays.  However, our staff may be busy helping other people during those hours so please leave a message. Calls made before or after these hours will go to our voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please call your local animal control officer if you are searching for a lost pet or have a concern about animal welfare or cruelty. SPCA-HC does not have an animal control officer on staff. We are not a stray holding facility. When we have space available, we do hold animals for brief periods and assist with finding where a cat or dog belongs.

The SPCA accepts relinquished animals by appointment only.
