Spay/Neuter Clinic

Sign up for our no-cost or low-cost spay/neuter clinic happening on September 29, 30, and October 1 at the Elks Lodge. Slots are in hot demand, so fill out an application or email animals@spcahancockcounty.org today to see if you qualify for no-cost or low-cost spay/neuter assistance. This is all possible thanks to the Maine Community Foundation Belvedere Animal Welfare Fund, SpayME, Sperry Veterinary Services, and the Elks Lodge in Ellsworth.

The nitty-gritty details
Due to the high volume of inquiries for our low cost/ no cost spay and neuter clinic, we wanted to make a post to hopefully answer your questions. The 3-day clinic will be held on 9/29/21, 9/30/21, and 10/1/21. We will be filling spots for the clinic first using HelpFixME vouchers but there will also be spots available for those who do not qualify for the vouchers. The qualifications for the voucher are as follows:
 
You receive assistance from one of the following programs:
– Food stamps
– Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
– Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
– Social Security Disability (SSD)
 
Or
Your annual income is 138% of the federal poverty level based on your household size.
The first number is household size and the dollar amount is household annual income.

The vouchers cover the following animals:
– All cats except those imported from out of state.
– Pit bulls and pit bull mixed breed dogs.
– Large mixed breed dogs.
– And as with cats, no dogs imported from out of state.
 
Proof of income or assistance is required for the voucher.
Voucher co-pays are $10 per cat and $20 per dog, but further assistance is available to cover the co-pays. Voucher applicants must be 18 years or older.
 
If you do not qualify for the voucher, we have other options for you as well based on your income.
 
To sign up for the clinic, you do not need to be a resident of Hancock County.
 
We should also mention that due to a high volume of emails, it may take the staff a few days to get back to you! Please only email animals@spcahancockcounty.org with inquires. We try to keep our phone lines open for adoptions and surrenders.
