Can you BELIEVE these are the same cat?!

Rocket (previously Dariax) came to the SPCA-HC with open wounds, significant fur loss, and lots of scars. He also came to us with the sweetest, most loving personality! Once he was available for adoption, sweet Rocket was looked over frequently due to his appearance and the possibility that he could need more medical care than your typical cat. Despite wanting nothing more than to be pet and snuggled, some visitors were hesitant to even touch him… and we don’t blame them! He had scabs, wound marks, and his skin was incredibly dry and rough. His rough start to life was apparent all over his body and it was jarring.

One day a family came in with no intentions of adopting a cat, they just wanted to visit and say hello. Then, they met Rocket and it was love at first sight. The three kiddos fawned over him and gave him every ounce of love he had desired for so long. They were given the full tour and shown kittens, and cats without lizard-esque skin, and they just kept asking to go back to their sweet boy in the purple room. We were fully transparent that his skin issues could potentially require a life-long special/prescription diet, medication, etc. and his family was fully willing and dedicated to giving him everything he could ever need, and more. Come to find out, all this sweetheart needed was some time and extra love. The beautiful cat you see in the “after” photos lives the same life as a typical cat and is THRIVING from the love and care given by his family. We are so thankful that his family saw him for his beautiful spirit and the dedication they’ve given to nurse him to the beautiful, healthy cat he is today.

We love you, Rocket, and we’re so happy for you! 💙
